I gave it a lot of thought. The story of the Mackenzies encompasses Joshua, Shadow Hawk, and Tremaine, as well as several supporting characters. So, with the help of a professional writer/editor/producer, we have created the second “treatment” offered to media producers.
About a month ago, we submitted “Tremaine” for consideration and are waiting to hear back…hopefully. The editor recommended the whole story, having read both novels. The product is fantastic and rolls up the critical aspects of the story.
The reviews were so critical to this decision. We have tried several avenues through Amazon Kindle Advertising, personal sales at various book fairs and events, and enhancements to the www.jharoldkellystories.com website to create interest in the storyline. We are starting to see some changes.
“These Sacred Lands” is the prequel to “Tremaine,” combining the storyline but pursuing the media query separately. We’ll continue to pitch “Tremaine” first because it is a strong and unique story. If interested, we will introduce “These Sacred Lands” and try to sell both. Then, as Ms Engle states, the producer will have two films, or they may even want to break both treatments up into a two-season, limited series or expand each book into more seasons if they prefer.
OK, what’s a logline? It is a short, sharp, one-sentence summary of your “prospective” movie that entices someone to read the entire script.
“These Sacred Lands” Logline: In the shadow of America’s westward expansion and the ensuing conflicts, two young men—one the son of a cavalry officer and the other a Lakota Sioux warrior—forge an unlikely friendship. As the tensions between their worlds escalate into all-out war, they must navigate loyalty, love, and the harsh realities of a changing world. When fate brings them face to face on the battlefield, only one will survive, leaving the other to fulfill a solemn promise to bridge the divide between their cultures.
